I ahve buyed 30 WIP310 for my company. Since now I have opened 3 of them and configured in sip connected to my AAstra MX1 sip extension. I have no problem for calling or receive calls, but at last 3 times in a day the wip310 shudown itself. And this with all the 3 phones opened since now.

They have all the last firmware 5.0.11(10301355)

Some one can hel me?

Thank you very much.

Same issues with mine, even when on the craddle. The only way I have found to keep them "alive" is having them a usb power cable plugged in always =\

My advice, if you can still return your phone, do it now. I regret I didnt do it when i found it had issues (i decided to wait since some cisco guys they said they were working on fixing it).

If you need a mobile voip client, I would suggest you to look on an iphone (or ipod touch w/ mic) + acrobits groundwire (available at the appstore for about 10usd)

Other than that you will just have plenty of desk adornments

Matteo,

Are all three WIP310s that you have opened doing this? Or just one of them?

Hi Jacob, thank you very much for your answer.

Unfortunately all the 3 phones opened. So I stopped to try others. The problem is that in that case you can have the phone

in the pocket powered off without to know. This is really a big problem. We can not use this phones.

I know that cisco, for this phone don't support roaming between many access points (unfortunately I have know this after the buy of the phones, but this is my fault), and in this case I can accept that some times the active call can be dropped, but not a shutdown.

We have the phones configured in an enviroment with an Motorola RFS6000 wireless switch and 16 access points Motorola

ap300.

Thank you very much for your help,

Matteo

Matteo,

Yes, the WIP310s do not support seamless roaming between access points. So all three of your phones currently completely power down over a period of time, how long does this usually take? Are the phones registering internally to a PBX or are they registering directly to a SIP provider?

Hi Jacob,

we are testing in this days for understanding if the time is allways the same or not, or if there is something else. What I can say now, but I'm not 100% sure, is that it happens normally when I leave the phone for long time without touching it (i mean without making a call or press any button).

The phones are registering internally to an Aastra MX1 PBX.

Thank you,

Matteo

Sounds good Matteo,

The next thing we should do is probably do some log captures and see if there is a pattern in the times that it drops. Lets collect that information and we'll continue on from that point.

Thanks!

Thank you Jacob,

attached the log of my wip310 phone since the shutdown.

Many thanks,

Matteo

Matteo,

Thank you for the logs I will look through them. Also, is there any pattern with when it shuts down or is it completely random?

Hi Jacob,

what I can say is that it happens in the most cases when we are walking with the phones.. perhaps when

he change the access port radio?? But in one or two cases the phone was standing on my table.

So we really don't know where the problem is.

Thank you,

Matteo

Jacob,

any news? If I don't resolve this problem in the nexat days i must give back all 30 phones! This phone is unusable!! I really don't understand how a company like cisco can not resolve this problem or sell a phone like this.

All people in my company are really angry. In the most cases thy are not reachable because the phone is powered off!!

I hope on your answer,

Matteo

Matteo,

As we are at the moment I have not been able to replicate the issue in my lab environment. I haven't had any drops from my phone. I'll give it a little more time to see if I get a drop and I will keep you posted. As of right now my phone is registered with a SPA9000 and is wirelessly connected with a WRV200, the WIP310 also has a static IP address assigned to it. I'll send you another update later today.

We use satic ip too. Have you tried to move with the phone? It happens principally when we walk with the phone, I think during

the trepass from an access point to another.

Matteo

Matteo,

I tested the WIP310 yesterday and had no luck in replicating the issue. I think the next best step at this point would be to open up a case with the SBSC. Here is a link to the available numbers. www.cisco.com/go/sbsc

Matteo,

Try setting the screen off timer to 0 (from the phone config menu on via the phone, not the webconfig). I just saw that on a nother thread on this forum, applied to my phone and it seems at least it wont shut down off randomly, rather then the battery dies. (which is like less than an hour LOL). But at least i have a 1 hour usable phone now, and it doesnt shut down now if I have it loaded into the craddle.
