While checking firmware versions I noticed Cisco FN 72352 which states that my SPA525G2's will at some point simply stop working because Cisco has decommissioned QuoVadis Root CA 2. The FN states no workaround is possible due to EOL on these phones.
Fair enough, but page 34 of the SPA525G2 User Guide gives a procedure for uploading root certificates to the phone. The context is to support WAP2 Enterprise wireless security. I am wondering if the certificate upload could also be used to extend the working life of these extremely handy IP phones.
If so, where would I obtain the required root certificate? The FN says that Cisco migrated to IdenTrust Commercial Root CA 1.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Even a definitive statement that a root certificate upgrade is impossible would be useful.
