7900 Series Phone Question

Hello, we are switching our office phone system from a Hosted (Covad) system to our own UC540.

We have a half dozen 7960 phones we use with the hosted. I'd like to be able to use these with the UC540.

Problem is they are set up for SCCP not SIP.

Is there a simple way to change a 7900 series phone from SCCP to SIP?

I have already tried the factory reset by holding the "#" key at power up and punching in the numbers 1-9, *, 0, # then selecting "no".

The phone gets an IP, VLAN, etc... but is stuck on "Configuring Phone", never registering.

Hosted to UC500. You sure you didnt mean SIP to SCCP?

As long as the phone is running at least an 8.x phone FW, it shold come up to the latest SCCP load in the SWP for UC500.

if older, you may have to do a step upgrade.

I am digging to inquire a bit more based on that data, but as long as your CCA PLM (phone load manager)

has the load defined for that model, it should pick up a load for it.

Debug tftp events?

I just heard back from the phone guy who helped me with the step upgrade for 7965 and 7970 getting to 8.5 (as now is in the CCA release notes) and the 69xx phone models to get to SIP version 9-1.

He said the least impacted phone model due to version changes would be 7960 :-)

From going sccp to sip, there's nothing much besides that you configure phone device on CME (UC500) to be either be sccp or sip. I know you know we dont support SIP endpoints on UC500 with CCA.

So perhaps best to check the usual things for phone loads.
