Hi Cisco Team,
Firstly let me just congratulate you on the release of CCA 3.1 and what a FINE release it is
So let the fun begin...
Was bored on the weekend so I decided to give this thing a good once over, and finished it of this morning by checking its ability to work with 3.0.1 based configurations, and I must say, CCA 3.1 performed exceptionally well, and was pleasantly surprised by a number of things.
Pros:
CCA is starting to take good form, it is edging close to be in competition with its fellow WEB GUI, given that in the past if we engineers needed to do remote work we had SSH or via Port Forwarding web access to the GUI, we are still not quite there yet with CCA, and when you can get VPN access and for CCA to work with it, you have a partial replacement, but still a long way away from reaching that goal. None-The-Less, 3.1 provides a good insight into the road map of its development, and so far it is clear that the design team is listening to the community at large, it is evident that our collective opinions/thoughts are being looked at and this can only serve to make CCA a more well received configuration tool, especially with those who are still quite adamant that it cannot serve as a replacement for the WEB GUI or CLI.
CONS:
Not many CONS can be listed at this stage, the major issues that were outstanding in CCA 3.0.1 still have to be put through their paces and this can only be done (In theory) on the same systems that this issue was happening.
To be put to the test in round 2 of testing:
The Wrap Up:
All up there was about 6-8 hours spent looking over this, and overall this is a good release and it has the HUGE thumbs up, no where near as many features as what I thought it would have, and given that Cisco do not seem to publicly show what is on the road map I suspect that there will be some with shared disappointment and others who have been hanging out for some of these very much needed features with shared excitement.
Who knows maybe the next release of CCA will be a huge surprise and it will be a Xmas present wrapped up with all sorts of goodies, the real compliment would be having a well defined and workable Office Manager that is vastly improved and will work hand in hand with the latest CCA, but alas that is another issue entirely.
All-in-All my hat goes of to the Cisco Team, a job well done and I am looking forward with a renewed energy for the next release of CCA, by the time we have exhausted this versions capabilities we should be ready for the next big surprise...
Cheers,
David.

I upgraded our production UC540 last night to SP 8.2 with CCA 3.1. The upgrade went very smoothly and I only ran into one issue when it was all said and done... The SSL VPN broke after the upgrade.
The problem turned out to be the SSL VPN install packages got removed from the configuration. The rest of the VPN config remained in tact but nothing works without those pkg install entries.

Hi Renato,
I am in the process of doing it this morning (Australian Time) and will be seeing how it goes, I hope to report back on the performance of this, but so far SWP-8.2 seems to be a good release, in combination with CCA 3.1
@ Robert,
Right now with all the playing around I have been doing, I would say 3.1 in combination with SWP-8.2, has to be one of the best combined releases yet by the Cisco Dev team, however be mindful of some of the changes that CCA 3.1 has which might impact previous configuration that were done with CCA 3.0.1, one in particular is the DTMF tones or the RFC as being reported on these forums already.
It has my thumbs up thus far...
Cheers,
David.

Hi All,
I should also have pointed out which I failed to do so in all my previous posts, is the ability now with CCA 3.1 to change the preferred CODEC type, the only options available at this stage is G.711uLAW and G.729r8.
This is a good step in the right derection, however the CCA Team need to look at introducing the following:
Although I do not know the impact on the UC given the transcoding requirements, but I do beleive there is enough headroom on the system to impliment that latter 3.
A great addition team, well done
Cheers,
David.
[EDIT]
On a side note, I decided to put a couple of the new features to the test, in particular the Call Back feature, two things come to mind...
I am sure as I continue to keep exploring it there will be more to report on, but the testing is slowing down now as I narrow down on specific features and on how 3.1 performs building a system from scratch, with 2X UC-540's being done in the next couple of days, it will be good to see the outcome of it.

Here are the IP phones that support the iLBC codec:
Here are the IP phones that support the G.722 codec:
As far as I know, the SPA500 series IP phones currently support G.711, G.729, and G.722, but not iLBC. Also remember that not all ITSPs support the G.722 or iLBC codecs.

Hi John,
Thanks for that mate
Just for the benefit of others, what John has posted is what is supported on the IOS level, whilst you could potentially configure these on a CLI basis, CCA presently does not provide these options though.
Again thank you for pointing that out John since I neglected to post it (I must be getting lazy )
Cheers,
David.

Which codec is recommended for spa500's that have poor Internet connectivity?

Hi Renato,
Ideally you would want to use G.729r8, however if the Internet is really bad than you might get away with iLBC, the audio quality is quite ordinary (Sounds normalized), but it is consistent which is usually what one is after.
However this is not yet supported by CCA, so your only option is to use G.729r8.
Cheers,
David.

Hi Cloe,
When you did software upgrade did you select "Format CF" option? When you launch SSL VPN dialog do you get invalid SSLVPN configuration? If that is the case you can easily fix this problem by creating "webvpn" directory in flash: and copy anyconnect package to that directory using Maintenance-->File Management from your PC.
Cheers
