Hi,
I tried to setup a dialer to be activated by any traffic but it doesn't work. I tried to generate traffic with ping command.
Bellow is the dialer configuration:
interface Dialer1
ip address negotiated
encapsulation ppp
dialer pool 10
dialer idle-timeout 0
dialer string 0800000000
dialer load-threshold 1 outbound
dialer-group 8
ppp authentication chap callin
ppp chap hostname username@username
ppp chap password 0 ******
ppp multilink
ppp timeout multilink link remove 65535
no clns route-cache
!
ip classless
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 Dialer1
no ip http server
!
!
dialer-list 8 protocol ip permit
Thanks for the help,
Guilherme

The configuration of dialer 1 does not have any obvious problems. The dialer string is a bit odd but I assume that this is an attempt to hide the real number. I notice that the dialer is assigned to pool 10. What does the ISDN interface say?
Could you post the router config and also post the output of show isdn status?

Rick,
Yes the dialer string is a fake number.
I am from Brazil and we use E1 here, my configuration for it is:
controller E1 0
framing NO-CRC4
ds0-group 0 timeslots 1-15,17-31 type r2-digital r2-compelled ani
cas-custom 0
country brazil
metering
category 2
answer-signal group-b 1
I don't known what this pool means I took it from an example. Maybe this is the problem?
What I am missing?
thanks,
Guilherme

Thanks for the additional information. I am not sure that it is enough for me to understand the problem. In my experience you configure the controller (T1 for me, E1 for you) and that relates to the configuration of a serial interface, which then relates to configuration of the dialer interface. Is there a serial interface related to your E1 controller? If so can you post its config?

Since this is CAS signaling, the call out is going to be as a modem call-out. Will need to see the relevant modem configuration and associated line configuration.
The dialer pool will associate with the physical ports using "dialer pool member" command.
debug dialer / debug cas / debug modem is a good starting point.
Thanks, Mak

Hi,
I am away from de AS5300 now but what I have for modem configuration is:
line con 0
interface Group-Async1
no ip address
encapsulation ppp
dialer in-band
dialer pool-member 10
ppp multilink
no clns route-cache
group-range 1 120
and I have groupasync:
interface Group-Async1
no ip address
encapsulation ppp
dialer in-band
dialer pool-member 10
ppp multilink
no clns route-cache
group-range 1 120
I am missing the "dialer pool member". Can be a problem? what it does?
thanks,
Guilherme
