Dynamic routing protocol over IPSec tunnel

Hi,

Below are supported routing protocol over IPSec tunnel for IOS router, PIX and VPN 3000 Concentrator.

Equipment: feature: dynamic routing: supported IPSec peer

1. IOS router: GRE/IPSec, DMVPN: all dynamic routing: IOS router

2. PIX: OSPF Dynamic routing over VPN (Version 7.0): OSPF: PIX

3. Concentrator: Netowrk Autodiscovery: RIP: Concentrator

The supported IPSec peer for dynamic routing protocol is very platform-dependent. Eg. IOS router only runs dynamic routing with IOS routing over IPSec tunnel; Concentrator only runs RIP with another concentrator over IPSec tunnel.

Does Cisco has any plan to introduce an unified solution for dynamic routing over IPSec tunnel across these 3 Cisco products ?

Another IOS router feature to add to your list, Virtual Tunnel Interface (VTI) introduced in 12.4 1.

Allows IP (only) multicast across IPSec, so supports dynamic routing protocols, no need for GRE.

The addition of this feature makes it even more confusing, unless it's going to appear in other products.
