EIGRP p2p with GRE over IPSEC as backup

Hi,

I have a quick question....

I currenlty have a remote site connected to head quarters via a point-to-point and would like to configure GRE over IPSec using a DSL line to serve as backup.

Is there anything else I need to do for the DSL connection to server as back up other than bring up the GRE and IPSec tunnels?

EIGRP should prefer the point-to-point over the DSL correct? and if so, will it know to use the IPSec if the point-to-point goes down

When you run your routing-protocol over your p2p-line and the VPN and the cost over the VPN is higher then the cost over your p2p-link, then you will get the preferred result. But If both IPSec-boxes are IOS-routers, I wouldn't use GRE/IPSec any more. Virtual Tunnel-Interfaces (VTIs) are much easier to handle and give you all you need:
