hardware vs software VPN client

Could somebody describe the difference between the Cisco VPN software client and the VPN hardware client? Which solution works better in what environment?

While we use both, the 3002 hardware VPN client has a lot of advantages over the software version. For us, the biggest reason is that it’s centrally manageable at the concentrator. Also, we have some Linux and some MAC users all running through the hardware client. There is no software client available yet for these users. It’s a great box.
