OOB Modem using SecureCRT

Does anyone know the proper settings with SecureCRT to dial an OOB modem?  We use Verizon managed services and although they test the modems, we want to as well.  Any setting I try in SecureCRT results in a blinking cursor but no Router> prompt.  Has anyone had luck with the TAPI option on SecureCRT?

You may want to explain what exactly you're trying to do, because it's not clear.

I have US Robotics 3453 modems connected to the console ports of my routers.  The modems and console cables are good as Verizon can verify them, I too need to be able to dial in.  When I try to dial from my laptop, I get a blinking cursor each time and no router prompts.  I am using the following settings in SecureCRT

Port Speed: 9600

Data Protocol: Standard EC

Compression: Disabled

Flow Control: None

Data Bits: 8

Parity: None

Stop Bits: 1

Modulation: Standard

My modem on my laptop dials fine and I have verified that the lines are good.
