While the Cisco IPsec VPN client is compatible with the ASA 5505, that product is end-of-sales and will eventually be completely discontinued (end-of-support). (reference)
New remote access VPNs (IPsec or SSL) should use the AnyConnect Secure Mobility client. (data sheet) You should have the AnyConnect Essentials (at least ) license purchased and activated to support those clients. (reference) The part number (if you don't have it already) is L-ASA-AC-E-5505= (cost under USD $100).
If you want to use clientless SSL VPN, you would need to purchase the AnyConnect Premium license. That option is licensed by tiers of users (25, 50, etc.)
"show version" on your device will show your current license level, among other things.

Depends what you're licensed for. You can only use anyconnect client / webvpn if you have enough licenses.
The standard cisco vpn client is fine for basic ipsec vpn.
