VPN users Authetication and Group policy, tunnel groups applied to AD users

Someone please help me understand how an AD user when connecting to Corporate network get the proper group policy defined on the vpn. I have the ASA where we defined tunnel groups, access list and Group policy and configured the AAA server group as the LDAP server.

assuming you have defined your AAA server correctly

you need to add that server group to your tunnel tunnel group

authentication-server-group the_name_of_your_aaa_server_group

well at least in ASA version 8.4

other devices might be simular
