Start Webex Meeting by phone

Hi,

I just got my previous subscription converted to Cisco Webex Starter. Previously, when I scheduled a meeting, everybody could just join by phone at about the time of the meeting, enter the meeting id and start talking.

Now I schedule a meeting and try to join by phone. I can't. The friendly lady keeps telling me, that I entered an invalid meeting id.

Only when I log in to my Webex account in the browser and start the meeting there, I can join by phone.

This is useless to me. We used to have jour fixes scheduled in Webex, and most of the times I'm driving in my car at the scheduled times and cannot log in to my webex account or even the webex app on my phone, if there is such a thing.

How can I configure the meetings so that anybody having the meeting id (or an additional password) can start the meeting?

Thank you,

Andre

Please make sure you have reset your preferences.

Log into the Website and under Preferences > My personal Room. Ensure you have a host pin entered.
Under Audio and Video, There should be a section called Audio PIN and Personal conferencing - If they are there, set those up as well.

Also - the webex meetings (or Teams) mobile app works very well. Your session will generally stay logged in and you can start meetings just like the desktop with the big green button. In addition, I do not know what vehicle, but many have integrations, In my Ford, I can run the webex right from the vehicle screen.

Hi Mike,
thanks I'll check that.

The host PIN to my personal room was already set up. I added the audio pin.

I think this is a terrible mess of codes and numbers, though:
A scheduled meeting itself has a meeting number, which I need to enter first when dialing in. Before my account got converted to WebEx Starter the phone system would ask me secondly for my "participant id" ("Teilnehmernummer" in German). If I was logged in on my PC it would show me that and I could enter it. Or I could just wait or hit "#" and it would put me right through into the meeting.

That would also work if the meeting was not explicitly started using the app on the PC. And I liked it like that!

Now I cannot skip that second question, when the meeting is unstarted.

Now, what code or number would I now have to enter in which sequence to dial into an unstarted meeting, to get it started? I would expect that this would work with the meeting specific host PIN, but I was not able to use that using phone dialin. I tried to enter it, after entering the meeting id, but it was always refused.

Also remember I want my colleagues to be able to start the meeting by phone, too. and for that I hope I do not need any of my personal PINs! I expect that I would have to share the meeting specific host PIN to my colleagues.

Could you help me on that?

If you call into your PMR by phone only with no one else - after you enter the meeting ID - the service should ask "If you are the host, end the host pin" - or something along that line to trigger the host authorization.

I just set up another meeting here

https://MYID.my.webex.com/

I scheduled it to start att 17:35h CEST.

I wait until 17:35h CEST.

Note: I did not start the meeting in the browser, because I want to simulate me being on the road.

I dial the given number. Webex picks up and asks me for the meeting number, which I enter.

Webex repeats the number and tells me it is invalid.

I tried many times.

In the browser I now click on "Start meeting".

The app starts and I need to click "Start meeting" again.

I dialed the given number. Webex picked up and asks me for the meeting number, which I enter.

Webex repeats the number and now asks me for my participant id (or whatever it is called in English).

So from my perspective there is no way to start a meeting by phone.

Or am I doing something wrong?
