We're in the early stages of rolling out Webex Calling to our organization. I am trying to wrap my head around how exactly the Azure AD sync is working.
We have it connected to Azure, and it is successfully syncing but it's a bit of a mess. We have it currently set to sync all users and not syncing groups at all; we're a small org with only 120 or so users so this isn't a huge deal, but it definitely needs improving.
Currently, it seems like the sync is pulling everything that is listed as an "active user" in MS365, but I am not even 100% sure that's what it's doing. It is syncing, that I know since we have added some new users in the last week or so that have been added to Control Hub.
What I'd like to do is have the sync only pull actual users over, rather than every "active user" since that list includes extraneous emails like we have set up for meeting rooms and random SMTP sources.
My idea is to add a security group to AD that will only include the actual users and then sync that group to Control Hub. My main questions:
1. Is that a typical way to go about syncing users into Control Hub?
2. Many of the users already in Control Hub we do want to keep; they are already assigned to devices and have been assigned licenses for meetings and such. If I sync by group(s), what happens to the users that are already in Control Hub? Do existing users get overwritten at the next sync? Will they need to be reassigned to phones? And I believe I also would have to delete any existing users we don't want to keep?
Thanks!
