I'm trying to work out what Webex Calling Inbound Fax to Email is and how it works. There seems to be very little information on the Webex site about it.
My scenario - a user has a personal fax number, separate to their normal DID number, that is configured on a PSTN SIP trunk that will connect into the Webex cloud.
Will Webex "answer" the call and send the incoming fax to the user's email? Is it that simple?
I would be grateful if anyone could point me to more information, please.

Fax2Mail requires a professional license (Flex3), see https://callinghelp.webex.com/features-by-station/
Normally, you should hear the Fax beep when calling the DID.. Does the user's DID work, ie. can you call that one?

This is a summary of my Inbound Fax to Email Setup
Created a fax user with an extension only.
Enabled calling for that user.
In Voicemail
enabled Email a copy of message
enabled Fax Messaging (allow this user to receive fax messages)
In the Select a phone number to receive fax messages I entered the Fax DID number.

I do have fax to email working now. I had missed two things. The voicemail number so no calls were going to voicemail. Then I was getting the fax in my voice mailbox but not email. Had to enable email a copy of message.
Thanks for you help.

I agree, the webex page on this is misleading. I don't have any DIDs in my org yet so I spun up a trial. I have a user with voicemail and I have enabled fax messaging with a different DID there. However when I try and fax to that number it does not complete. Is there any fax feature or license that needs to be enabled. Also is this a working feature in a trial?

Inbound Fax needs a DID assigned to the user's inbound fax feature to be able to work. once that is assigned any inbound call that goes to that number will act as if a fax machine has answered and it will then receive the info and send that to the user's e-mail

Hi,
I was looking for some more info on the WebEx calling voicemail fax-to-email feature. I found webex info that states you need an ATA, Is this true? I was hoping to get this feature working without an actual fax machine which is the only reason I could see needing an ATA. Any info is appreciated.

For Fax2Mail, there is no ATA needed. Just a common user that should use fax2mail. Check the user's VM settings and enable Fax messaging there. You have to assign a second DID for fax2mail to that user. That's all..
The help page is a bit misleading, I think..
