Hi,
I rely on Webex for online classes and a few days ago, I tried to talk during a class meeting, and no one could hear me even though I was unmuted. Both my laptop (Asus) and Webex showed my microphone to be working perfectly. Today, the same thing happened in a different meeting. I tried using my Dell, and again, same exact issue: the Dell itself and Webex both tell me my mic works fine. I haven't had problems hearing anyone. Can someone please help? I'm extremely frustrated. And if you have suggestions, please feel free to explain like I'm five, because my knowledge of technology is very limited.
Thanks!

An online microphone test is a quick and easy way to assess the performance of your audio equipment. Users may ensure crisp, clear audio in all of their online discussions by recognising its value and learning how to run these checks efficiently. These tests are a vital tool in the digital age, whether you're a professional recording artist, a telecommuter, or simply someone trying to improve their online chat experience.

Same problem, mainly with Android tablets.

@PantelisGiannopoulos62043
Did you check, if the APP is allowed to use the microphone?
Actually the same applies to Windows 10 since this offers a similar management of access to ressources.
IT-Management may have decided to deny access to the e.g. Microphone for all applications by default for security reasons...

In addition to the hints of @Ashish Patel you may also want to check the "Levels"-Adjustment of the microphone.
There are lots of reports/complaints about Microsoft having changed the microphone-sensitivity in Windows 10 so that most of them are now too silent/quiet.
I found this screenshot somewhere online...

Hi there,
Thank you for the suggestion. I haven't found anything on my laptops that look like the screenshot, but the levels are at their highest settings, playback of my voice is loud and clear, and people I've met with on platforms like Zoom, Vsee, and Doxy.me say they hear me with no problems. It's just WebEx and it's the strangest thing. Oh, and I completely forgot to mention - no one can hear me over WebEx when I use my phone, either. I have to call in. What are the odds no one can hear me on THREE SEPARATE DEVICES?
Thanks!

Ah, the info that your mike does work with other tools is important.
- You did check if you are muted (in Webex)?
The meeting-host has options to (force-) mute the participants but he can NOT force-unmute them (for privacy reasons..).
Since the user-base of Webex-Products grew significantly (caused by.. u know..) - esp. in new business-areas like education.. -
Cisco constantly adds new features based on user-feedback. Some of these new features are audio-options.
Perhaps not every IT-Dept. is keeping up with the pretty high pace of innovation of Cisco to provide satisfying on-site training and support.
(just guessing - not accusing someone...)

Some things to check.
1. Can you check your mic is working by recording something in another programme on your computer. That will prove its working and receiving.
2. Do you have any headset or any other device with a mic to test that works ok
3. On some machines you can hard mute the mic on the laptop/PC are you sure nothing like that is happening
4. When you run through a Test Setup of your MIC on Webex (Audio Settings) do those detect your mic is running ok?
5. Is there another application seizing control of your mic that could be causing this issue?
6. Any firewall or security software blocking anything you can see?

Hello,
I appreciate your response. I have run every single mic test I can think of on both my Dell and Asus and the microphone passes all tests with flying colors; and yes, they play back recordings of my voice. Drivers and all software are up to date. On virtual meeting platforms like Zoom, Vsee, and Doxy.me, everything works great. I have tried using headphones that have a mic, and I have the same results as above (but it doesn't work in WebEx). WebEx audio tests show no issues. I have granted WebEx permission to use my mic and camera, and I don't have any third-party software blocking access. The only question I don't understand is about another application using the mic. I'm not computer literate and I'm not sure what that means. When I use WebEx, every other program on my laptop is closed.
The fact that I'm having this same problem on both my Dell and Asus is so weird. Doesn't that mean WebEx is the problem?
Thanks!
