cannot see client hits on the controller , when a flexconnect ap is joined to it

i am facing very strange issue with flexconnect, if i join a flexconnect ap to a remote wlc and configure the flexgroup settings, clients are unable to join and i cannot even see any hits on the remote wlc.  even if i run a client debug on the remote wlc, i dont see a single hit.

but if i convert the same ap into local mode and do everything central , it works straightaway and i can see clients connected on the wlc , so far i have seen this behavior on code 8.2 and 8.5 and on multiple wlc platforms. the ap that i am using is a 2800 series ap.

is this a known issue ?

Hi,

Looks like in flexconnect mode the client is not associating to the network. Which authentication method do you have?

I guest this can be some configuration.

Sounds like a config issue, is it working for any of the Flexconnect APs/ WLANs?

Can you share the following outputs:

Show wlan <WLAN ID>

show flexconnect group summary

show flexconnect group detail <Flexconnect Group Name>

Also share the switchport config of one of the Flexconnect APs

hi , the ssid has "local switching" enabled .

in the flex group , the mapping of wlan/vlan is defined correctly

also the switchport configuration looks like this

interface gx/x

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

switchport trunk native vlan 102

switchport trunk allowed vlan 102, 1401
