Hello
I need to replace 3 wap371 access points. Currently there are 2 ssid's broadcasting on each access point. I have all 3 access points connected to a single switch and have one of the access points configured as the cluster controller. If I were to replace these access points with CBW240AC access points, would all 3 of the CBW240AC access points still need to be connected to the single switch, or can the access points be connected to different switches as long as the access point has the corrected vlan's trunked to it? In my current configuration, I have a sonicwall firewall connected to a cisco sg250 switch with another sg250 switch connected to the first switch. Each switch services a separate building. I have a single access point in one of the buildings and 2 access points in the other building. I have all of the access points connected to the first sg250 switch and have 2 2 vlans tagged on the switch port that each access point is connected. Are the CBW240AC access points able to have one access point be the controller and as long as all of the other access points are connected on the same vlan, will they create a tunnel to the first access point and be controlled by it? My understanding in the cluster controller scenario with the wap371, the access points still have their data go across each individual switch port and does not go back to the cluster controller and that the only thing provided by the cluster controller is configuration management. Is this the same with the CBW240AC model access point.
Thank you

HI Andrew,
You have several options when it comes to configuring the Cisco Business WIreless product line for your network. You can use three CBW 240AC's to replace your WAP371 installation enabling MESH. In this particulay case you can set up a true mesh Network. You can also, depending on your environment and number of concurrent users, consider CBW240AC along with Mesh Extenders - keeping in mind the mesh extenders will extend the range of your network, but will see a latency impact depending on users. They will and should be on the same native VLAN as yoiu've stated.
Without knowing the size, distance of buildings, etc, you will have to determine which optiions best suits your environment.
hope this helps, Please click helpful if this is..
Regards...
