Hi All,
Just got several of these Cisco WAP121 AP's and today had a nightmare with one of them. On one of our areas with no broadband access we have installed the "Globe Surfer 3+ 3G Router" which incorperates its own Wireless AP.
I needed to get decent wireless access further down the building, so the idea was to use the WAP121 and setup WDS with the Globesurfer. No matter what guides I followed I could not get the WAP121 to talk to the Globe Surfer for internet access.
Has anyone done anything similar using the WAP121 and a Third party router ??? any "Idiots" guide would be appreciated :-)
OR, is this a case that the WAP121 wont work with a 3rd party router ???
Would really appreciate some advice before loosing all my hair.
Many thanks and a Happy Christmas to everyone.

Hi Graeme, the WAP121 and 321 are incapable of using WDS among other devices aside themselves. You may try a workgroup bridge configuration but it has been hit and miss. Some folks have had the workgroup bridge work with RV220W and WRVS4400N so it's not impossible.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for commenting so quick...... Dam and blast :-) I knew I should of stuck with our WAP200's but supplier convinced me to go for the WAP121......Oh well no use crying over spilt milk now.....I shall just have to try and get a cable between the 3G router and the globesurfer.
Many thanks

Graeme, it's really not a lost effort. Try to configure the Workgroup Bridge, in theory it should work fine and the AP does supply statistics so you know if it is working. The set up is pretty straight forward.
Here's the documentation
Best I know, the clustering and WDS should be disabled before enabling the workgroup bridge. Otherwise it should be just a matter of matching the settings then saving the config.

Thanks Tom, I shall use a Bedtime reading material and see what a new day brings.
