Hi All!
a few months ago we installed a few months ago two WAP150 Access Points, which are giving some troubles:
despite they are ON (powered by POE), sometimes they become not reachable (neither Wifi through Wi-Fi nor Cable through cable), and all we can do is to power them off by unplugging the cable and then reattaching it.
One of them , moreover, gives many of “wl0: wlc_reset: !!!BIG-hammer!!!. PSM microcode watchdog fired. psmdebug 0xed8e4c, phydebug 0x0, psm_brc 0x1.” Errors (only one AP!).
For testing purpose, we tried to:
Even with this simplified configuration, both APs continue to give problems, especially when there is a macbook as a client.
Do you have any suggestion?
Googling around, we read that there seems to be a confirmed bug in their firmware, however it seems that firmware updates are only available to customers who have subscribed a support contract, which we have not, nor we want to do. As far as you know, is it possible to get a fix from Cisco, or do we have to return them to the manufacturer as defective?
Thanks

Dear Customer,
Please email me a private message of your Cisco ID and the serial number of your access point(s) and I will create a case for you.
Your issue needs further investigation.
Thanks!

We also have many of these devices with the latest firmware, and they often crash. We need to shut/no shut the port to reset the power. Was there a resolution offered?

Hello,
I'm facing the same issue. I can connect to the Wi-Fi but no I have no internet connection (2,4 or 5Ghz).
It worked for 6 months perfectly. I tried multiple resets and each Time I did it, it worked fine for approximatively 1 hour then crashed again. I also did a factory reset but still not working.
Could you tell me how this issue was solved?
Thanks

Hello Damien,
Can you please check what firmware version you are running on the WAP? If not the latest please upgrade to 1.1.2.4 (https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286286263/type/282463166/release/1.1.2.4?i=!pp)
Can you describe in more detail the problem you are facing and if you implemented any specific configuration? Do you lose only Internet connectivity or not able to connect to any 2.4GHz/5GHz SSIDs at all?
Regards,
Martin

Hello,
First thank you for your quick answer.
I updated the firmware version (to 1.1.2.4) and I wanted to wait a couple of days before giving any feedback.
It appears now that I'm still facing issues.
I didn't implement any specific configuration and the issue that I'm facing is that I appear connected but anytime, I can't navigate on websites anymore (connected to either on 2.4GHz or 5GHz). It last sometimes 1 hour and without any action, it works again.
If I'm directly linked to my modem, I've got no problem.
Kindly find enclosed the logs of errors.
Best regards,
Damien

Hello Damien,
Is it only one WAP150 you have deployed and have this problem? What are the end clients (PC/OS) connected to the WAP experiencing those connectivity issues? While you can't navigate to any sites are you still connected to the WAP SSID? What is the browser message that you are getting?
Regards,
Martin

Hello,
Yes it's only one WAP150. The end clients are multiple (PCs, phones, Smart TV...) and all are facing the same issue.
And again, you're right, I still appears connected to the WAP SSID without any error logos or messages.
About the error messages, I don't know if the logs that I've sent are related to the issue.
Best regards,
Damien

Hello Damien,
At the time of the problem have all devices been assigned IP addresses? Can you ping from the PC the gateway modem/router that the AP is connected to?

Martin

Hello,
Kindly find enclosed the image showing that all devices connected have been assigned to IP adresses.
I can ping the modem.
Apparently, I got also some message that I just discovered -->
See another picture showing an error message for the 2.4GHz SSID. I have only one device connected to it and it says that I have reached the amount of devices that can connect to the Wi-Fi --> So impossible to connect to it.
Regards,
Damien
