WAP4410N Access Point

I recently purchased a WAP4410N and I have some problems getting it to work. I am on a 192.168.1 network so everything should be ready to go. I am unable to ping the default address 192.168.1.245 for the wireless. During the process of resetting the device I am able to ping it for a few seconds. I am able to see the wireless connection but I am unable to access it even though it is unsecured. All lights are on the device except the PoE light.

Thanks!!

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Thank you for using the Cisco Community Post Forums.

How do you currently have it setup? Is it hardwired into the router? Are you trying to manage it wirelessly?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  It goes directly into a Linksys router. I have one desktop that is hardwired into the router as well. I am not able to ping 192.168.1.245 unless I reset the device. Then it replies for about 10 seconds. I am not able to hit the webpage as well. I also have a laptop that sees the wireless (unsecured) but it wont connect. Any ideas?

Hi Erik,

Thanks for posting. Your WAP4410N is getting it's IP address from the Linksys router. You should be able to find it in the DHCP clients table in the router, then access the web GUI at that address.

The other option is to set a static IP address on your PC (192.168.1.200, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0, no gateway or DNS), plug the WAP4410N directly into the PC, reset it and go to 192.168.1.245 in your browser. If the WAP4410N does not detect a DHCP server it defaults to 192.168.1.245.

After you reach the device, make sure that you give it a static IP address (192.168.1.245, Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1, Primary DNS: 192.168.1.1, Secondary DNS: ISP DNS Server if you have one) This will help if you need to access the device again in the future.

Please reply and let us know if this works or if you need further assistance.

Had similar problem -  could not connect via ethernet port

Only way in finally was to connect AP to my ADSL router and let it pick up an address from DHCP. Was then able to look at connections on router and find the IP address allocated to the WAP4410n (could check its MAC address). I could then use IE to access via this address. Seems that reset just did not default to 192.168.1.254 as it is meant to if no DHCP found.

Hope this helps
