1142 Interference with 5Mhz/8Mhz Ultrasound Probes

Hello -

I am scratching my head on this one.   We have an ultrasound machine that uses two probes in the 5Mhz & 8 Mhz frequency ranges.

Recently I received a complaint that our APs are interferring with the device.

Upon investigation we determined that the 1142a/b/g/n AP is indeed interferring.  We verified this by shutting the AP off and watching the inteference go away on the probes.

I am not sure why an 1142AP which operates in 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz would impact a probe as such a low frequency.  Also, this problem just started when we installed the 1142s a few months ago.  Previous to that, for about 5 years, we had Cisco 1010 APs in place running b/g in 2.4 Ghz with no issues.

Any insight is appreciated.

Best Regards

Chucky

I work primarily in healthcare and almost exclusively in wireless. I have seen issues when  Access Points are to close <2 feet or closer> within range of wireless antennas and radios.

Although, you have verified this by shutting it off. Have you done a spectrum capture ? I have hundreds of 1142s installed and this is the first ..
