1260 AP question

have another question regarding the 1260s.

If our one, 2500 controller with 1260 APs, running CAPWAPP image goes down, will those APs look for another contoller even if there are no CAPWAPP controllers to be found(only LWAPP)? And if it finds one, will it download the LWAPP image and join the LWAPP controller?

Pat,

     No sir.  The 1260 does not support LWAPP, or any release below 7.0.  If you had any WLC belo 7.0 code, the AP1260 would not be able to join at all.

OK so, redundancy is out.

Does this mean I will have to have my WCS at atleast 7.0 to be able to monitor/configure the 2500 from the WCS?

I could upgrade the WCS but, if I put the WCS at 7.0, will it be able to monitor/configure our other controllers that are at 4.2.209.0?

Yes, you would want to have your WCS at 7.0, and I would go with 7.0.172.0.  Per table 1, 7.0.172.0 can still manage a 4.2.209.0 controller.
