We purchased cisco AIR-CAP1552E-A-K9 and it has IOS c1520-k9w8-mx.124-23c.JA2. WLC with the lastest firmware 7.0.116.0 is not able to connect to the Cisco 1552E. 1552E log show that it can see the WLC but unable to connect. We have devices for both U.S and Australia domain.
Why are the 1552E not able to connect to the WLC?

ok!! If we have multiple country selected on the WLC, then the mesh APs will not join the WLC and its a ground rule.. if you have rest of the APs in the mesh and still joined then its a strange behaviour !!
Check if the multiple countries are chekced in the WLC..
WLC >> Wireless >> Country >> See what all countries are enabled.. there should be only 1 allowed)

aahha!! thats the problem!! the mesh is not supported on multiple country codes.. if you change the same the MESH ap will register back right away.. and there is no work around for this problem since this is how cisco designed the mesh

No!! 1552 AP are mesh only APs and we cannot turn off the feature.

Francis:
Yes you can.
However, If APs on different WLC's can hear each other then the RF groups may not be formed although same RF group name is configured on two WLCs.
For RF-Groups to work among multiple WLCs it needs same countries to be configured on all WLCs with same order. see multiple countries guildlines:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.0/configuration/guide/c70lwap.html#wp1147755
If your 1552 APs are not on same location as othe APs on the other WLC (each WLC has its APs in different locations and APs from first WLC do not hear signals from APs on second WLC) then you can do it safely by dedicating one WLC for the mesh APs while that WLC is configured with one country only.

Just make sure multiple country codes are not allowed on the WLC and i hope you have confiugred option 43 to get the AP the ip address and the WLC ip..

What does the log show? Did you add the mac address to the wlc?
Thanks,

We have 1100-A, 1310-A and 3500-N devices on the network and they are working. 1552E-A are new devices we are planning to add.

We have both Australia and U.S enabled on the WLC.
Are the devices hardwired to be domain specific or can we change the firmware to change the doamin ?
Thank You,
Francis

We are not using mesh for the existing AP's. We do not want to use mesh for the 1552E.
Thank You,

Is there a way to change the 1552E to work without mesh ?
Thank You,

We have few 3502-N in the network. Is it possible to change the firmware on these to work on U.S doamin, they are currently on Austarlia.
Thank You,
Francis Paul
