2504 WLC License base-ap-count expiring

Hello,

As the new Network Admin at our organization, I've taken over responsibility for the wireless infrastructure. While reviewing different WLCs, I found that one has an expiring license. I'm unsure what the license would fall back to. We have a total of 38 APs, and if the license falls back to 40, that would be acceptable. However, it currently says "Inactive," which concerns me. What will happen once it expires?

Try setting WLC time clock for a year ago.

Hi,

from the print screen you are using evaluation license and not the 40 AP permanent license.

Click on the license with 40 and activate it.

Like others said, your 2504 WLC is running on Eval license.

Refer the following link: https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/7.4/configuration/guides/system_management/config_system_management_chapter_011.html

Also, note that Cisco 2504 is EoL'd on April 18, 2018 and it's also crossed Last date of Hardware Support on April 30, 2023.

You should be looking at replacing Cisco 2504 with Cisco Catalyst 9800 series controllers.
