Hi all,
Today I upgraded a pair of 5508 WLCs to 8.0.120.0 and FUS 1.9 from 8.0.110.0 and FUS 1.7 at one of my client sites.
I decided to use the AP pre-image download feature as it is a 24/7 critical site. This worked great for all APs except for the 3600 models. Every single one would reboot, start downloading a 7.3.1.53 image (with 0.0.0.0 as a backup) reboot again, and completely download 8.0.120.0 with 3.0.51.0 as a backup.
This defeats the whole purpose of the AP pre-image download feature, and has actually caused my double the downtime by rebooting/downloading images twice. Once 8.0.120.0 and 3.0.51.0 are in the primary and secondary slots, the APs only need to reboot once.
Does anybody know what would cause this? All other AP models (3500, 3700, 1552 and 1532s) are happy with 8.0.120.0 and 8.0.110.0 in the primary and backup image slots.
Regards
Brett

Thanks Mohanak,
It sounds like the exact same issue I am facing. It's just odd that it has never occurred before at this site. I have upgraded the WLCs several times now with no issue.
Is there a possibility that the sizes of the code have increased not allowing the two images to coexist on the AP at the same time?
I'm also curious as to why it doesn't occur with the 3500 APs. I'm guessing the flash memory is the same size as the 3600 APs if not smaller?
