So trying to isolate this and it's driving me nuts ... recent deployment replacing WisM's with 8540's and new 3800 AP's (around 300). and I have both model phones between the 7925/8821 and when standing right below an AP my RSSI is between 30-80, and when going around the corner it sits at 80 and 1 bar/no bars on signal .. yet my person phone on the same 5Ghz band is fine and shows good signal ...

The 7925G, if loaded with the correct firmware, is a mature system.  The software is mature and it could roam (compared to older firmware) very well.

The 8821 and, if I was to be diplomatic about it, still a "work in progress".  There are known issues about the way the 8821 "roams".

The 8821 had a firmware update (SR2) released Thursday.
