Bug hunting for a rare and elusive bug wanted from others reading this thread!
So, the reason why we tried this interim build in the first place is to identify or fix a seemingly rare and elusive bug with certain AP's. Since it's difficult to find an AP that currently experiences this issue (unreproducable so far) and also to gather enough data to get it identified, I figured that I'd ask here if anyone has seen the same thing and if you have seen it, how the identification and fix is progressing..
Symptoms of the bug:
A specific AP is seemingly up, broadcasting SSID's and everything, but in practice, it doesn't allow clients to associate. The effect seen on the client is that when it tries to roam or associate to the affected AP, the client gets disconnected. If you try to associate again (either automatically or manually) from the client, the client is seen as misbehaving and is excluded if you have that feature enabled on the SSID that the client is trying to associate to. This essentially creates a coverage black hole, and depending on your exclusion rules, the client isn't able to associate again anywhere until the exclusion timer expires.
What we've found so far:
We've been running a case with the TAC, and we've found out so far that the failure is in the EAPOL M2 phase, where the client either doesn't receive the handshake, or the AP doesn't see it. However, we were mistakenly advised to reboot the AP prematurely, so we haven't been able to collect the required packets from the client handshake yet, as we haven't found any other faulty AP to test this with at this time.
So, if this sounds very familiar, check to see if this is indeed what you're experiencing too. If it truly is exactly this issue, do share what you know and how your troubleshooting/bug filing is progressing so we can get the devs to fix this. :)
Ps. It COULD be this issue, but the bugid CSCvc06325 was terminated due to that it was unreproducable. However, the invalid staid bug has been fixed, but it might just be correlation and not causation. :) See this thread for additional info: https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/13292651/air-ap2802i-clients-connection-failure-related-invalid-staid-log

I assume you only ask users with 2802i?
I had that once with the 3502i, but in that case the AP was broken in the end.

Yup, but I think 2800 and 3800 are almost the same type of platform, so it's mainly those AP's that are of interest.
This error is cleared by a reboot of the AP. So if it persists after a reboot, it's not the same issue. :)

Hi,
We did a sniffer trace and got this analysis from TAC:
Wireless sniffers show that AP never sent the EAP identity requests forwarded by the controller, therefore client didn’t have a chance to start the EAPOL exchange and got disassociated, this happened during all attempts to association to that AP.
This misbehaviour can be traced back to the impact of below bug:
CSCvd58664 AP dropping EAP packets on Radio which is seen on Wired uplink
