Does someone know a good handtool for 802.11 to test the links like Cable tester for copper lines?

If you want to test on the coaxial line, you need a Wattmeter.

If you want to test signal and noise, you need a Spectrum Analyzer.

If you want to check for existing 802.11b APs by channel and SSID, you can use Mini-Stumbler.

Other options include:

- A 2.4GHz FH card for scanning that band only (poor man's spectrum analyzer)

- And a whole list of handheld and laptop utilities like Airopeek, Sniffer Wireless, Wavelink and others for additional analysis functions.
