802.11b/g mixed networks, how about speed?

Hi All,

I know from the beginnings of 802.11g that some access points (AP) would slow down to 802.11b as soon as an 802.11b only client connects.

I wonder now, is this still the case with the AP1200 series?

Or does a 802.11g and a 802.11b client can send/recieve at the same time with full speed (54mbit/s and 11mbit/s)?

I searched a lot of documents, but it seems to be nowhere clearly written

I hope somebody can help me (and probably others) with this question.

Thanks,

Patrick

When you have both 802.11g clients and 802.11b clients in a WLAN network, the 802.11g clients will communicate with other 802.11g clients at 54Mbps datarate. But when a 802.11g clients communicates with a 802.11b client the communication will happen only at 802.11b data rates.
