802.11b to 802.11g Coverage Differences

We surveyed a property last year with "B" radios and now we are deploying "G" radios. Will there be any coverage change? Should we re-survey the site?

Hi,

I'd suggest that you perform the site survey again for the following reason:

In due course after the site survey done last year if there might've been some changes in the surroundings(e.g. new wlan setups might've sprung up) or other sources of interference might exist now which wasn't there when you performed the site survey last year. There is always a possibility of interference occuring in due course of a wlan setup which is one of the major cause for issues.

Apart from this the radio B/G is not the factor of resitesurveying all over again.

Thanks & Regards,

Karthik N

My question would be on how you set the power levels for both B (CCK) and G (OFDM). If I survey using the ACU utility, I am going to get B readings. So for example if I survey and find that a given AP needs to be set at 30mW, at what level should the G power be set?
