802.11n/ac

Hey everyone. I'm currently running a 5500 WLC with 7.6.110.0 code and a mix of 1040 and 1600 APs. I understand that these APs and this controller support 802.11n, but I don't have an 802.11n option under my "radio policy" drop down menu for my WLAN. When I view the "802.11a/n/ac" field under the "wireless" tab it shows 11n and 11ac as enabled. What am I missing?

Thanks for your help!

Hi

802.11n is simply aggregating frames to give higher throughput. So it is supported in both 2.4GHz & 5GHz bands. Therefore you do not get a separate option under radio policy to set it to 802.11n.

As long as you enable 11n support on  802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz band) & 802.11a/n/ac (5GHz band) that will do.

Also remember that encryption has to be WPA2/AES or Open to support 802.11n. Also WMM should be enable (either allow or required under QoS tab of WLAN)
