TL/DR:
9105axw-b
Problem 1 – How do I make space?
Problem 2 – Am I copying the file correctly?
I received a Catalyst 9105axw-b intending to use the 9800 Embedded Wireless Controller. After reading several documents and watching the 9100 series videos, I was confident that I could convert the device. Most of the documentation is aimed towards the other 9100 series devices and have directions with unacceptable commands, like config t.
I am having a difficult time getting the access point to allow me to tftp the IOS bin file. Below is part of the show version output:
cisco C9105AXW-B ARMv7 Processor rev 5 (v7l) with 950528/456128K bytes of memory.

Product/Model Number : C9105AXW-B
I have attempted several methods. copy source dest doesn’t work in this IOS.-
I am making an assumption that the device is running out of space. I cannot seem to find the commands to delete, as it is handcuffed to what can be deleted and I am having trouble viewing the files. Clearly my /tmp is 100% full (fixes with reload). But I would like to have enough space to download and use the image.

marce1000,
With all due respect, it's either a bug in the software or 3 different documents below are incorrect... Please let me know which you believe it is? Bug or documents are wrong?
See Table 1 (Last line) (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/nb-o6-embded-wrls-cont-ds-cte-en.html)

> It is correct that the EWC for the 9105AXWis supported
You are confused . this ap is only supported as a client in an EWC based environment, it can not run the controller. My original reply referencing AP's that support EWC still stands.

Marce1000, I don't think you carefully read in my post, I wrote in bold parenthesis on the first line > "(client only)"< You still need the iOS XE image to join the EWController, otherwise, why would the software image be available for that platform?? see below. There must be some way to upgrade it?? Also, all the links that I included in my post point to where it's supported in that software image. Can you be kind enough and let us know how to upgrade it?

Hi,
First, many thanks for this explanation
It seemed to work for me, but ...
I'm using C9105AXW-E as AP to convert in EWC
I see in your explanation you use an AP : C9105AXI-E
Is there a limitation with my version of AP ? W instead of I
I don't have as much storage as you have in your own AP. And i see that @PatrickMorgan had the same one. I don't know if it worked for him ^^
i downloaded the archive to the AP, extracted, installed, everything seemed to be fine

Patrick,
SystemEngineer32313 posted the solution, I tried it and it worked!

Sammy! so just to clarify again:
C9105AXI-E doesn't work as controller, but it does work as client for other EWC?
09-10-2023 07:46 AM - edited 09-10-2023 07:54 AM
I also faced this issue, and the solution won't fully resolved my issue, here is my resolution:
there is a bug https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvu22886 , if you are using a version which is older that 17.3.4c you can not upgrade to newer version, use command mentioned by DDSD in previous post to update the AP to 17.3.4 rather than 17.9.x (for example), then you won't face transfer command failed (Error 23) error.

Rniu,
just to clarify again: C9105AXI-E doesn't work as controller, but it does work as client for other EWC?
