Hello everyone,
to use EWC on Cisco Catalyst 9000 switch family,
do I have to license both the switch and the access point with DNA subscriptions?

That will depend on the firmware of the switch.
If I remembered correctly, 17.2.1 (and earlier) require DNAC (appliance) SD-Access to manage the embedded WLC.
Starting with 17.3.1, DNAC (appliance) SD-Access is no longer required to manage and configure the embedded WLC.

Thanks @Leo Laohoo
I have inserted an attachment in which I have highlighted the release and licensing required.

Read the Release Notes carefully.
Nowhere do I see anything mentioned about not being able to work with Essentials license.

if essential licenses are also good, should they be taken both on the switch and on the AP?

No, only the switch.

is this OTT deployment or part of SD-Access ?

@balaji.bandi it is no-SD Access.
it is a three level university campus:
Access, distribution and Core.
The idea is to use Embedded wireless on Catalyst 9K switches rather than the 9800 wireless controller.
So my doubt is to understand if you need to activate the DNA licenses as well as the switches also the access points.

CAt 9K support inbuild WLC feature, make sure you have right License to use that feature.
