9800 WLC Cluster

Hi All,

Regarding HA setup of 9800 WLC, is it possible to deploy 1xWLC in let say Office1 and 1xWLC in Office2 and form it as a cluster or HA? The office is on different country but connected via MPLs network. I only see SSO setup of WLC but installed in one premise.

Any idea if it's possible?

Couple of things:

Are the APs in local or flexconnect mode?
if local you would need same VLAN/ Subnets on both sides

SSO requirements are:

Maximum RP link latency = 80 ms RTT, minimum bandwidth = 60 Mbps and minimum MTU = 1500

Same Layer 2 Network for WLC management

For myself the only time I would do this is dual data centres where I are running the same layer 2 network between them and private fibre.

Otherwise I would look at the N+1 high availability architecture.

Yes, it will work.

The main thing is the latency of the RP port.
