9800 WLC: Tag config, CSV file

I want to try using a CSV file to configure accesspoints connected to a 9800 WLC (version 16.12.5)

Never tried configuring accesspoints using a CSV file. Does anyone have a example of how the CSV file should look like?

The information for the CSV file states this:

CSV file should have the following columns.
AP MAC Address*,Policy Tag Name,Site Tag Name,RF Tag Name
(*Mandatory)

That looks quite explicit and self-explanatory to me.  Which part of it don't you understand?

Understood it now.. Thanks

@SondreSandberg Did the .CSV import worked for you?

What do you do if the policy tag name has a space in the name (which is allowed)?  The CSV import wont accept a space.

1. Why would you put a space in the name? Have you heard of dashes or underscores?

2. Assuming you insist on doing something which is bound to cause you problems - have you tried enclosing the text in quotes?  I have no idea if it will work but that would be the standard approach to such a problem and is in fact part of the CSV "standard".

I didn't create the policy tag names but my argument would be if it allows it, the CSV import should allow it also.   I tried using using quotes but that doesnt work.

1. Good to know <smile>
2. I agree
3.  We have to be realistic that the software has bugs in it. For now you'll have to workaround it by using names which don't have spaces in them.
4. If you want it fixed you'll have to open a TAC case and get TAC to open a bug for it but don't hold your breath - a fix is likely to take 6-12 months and be in a later release, if they decide to fix it.  Sometimes the BU decide not to fix things like that and simply suggest the workaround.

No headers needed. My CSV file just included all the fields in the same order with the first column as the mac address, then the policy tag name, and so on.... it worked for me.

When uploading the file, delete what you have already added and/or It is added to what we already have registered
