Adding User in Prime Infrastructure fails

Hello there,

I was trying to add a new user to Prime Infrastructure (Build 3.9.0.0.219). When clicked the "generate Password" field the slider for password strength appears but keeps staying empty.

Using firefox hitting the save button does not work at all, with chrome I get an info message:

"Password strength cant be empty."

Even if I change the password manually the "password strength" slider does not fill up.

What kind of issue is this?

Do you have any ideas how to resolve this error?

Thanks

All the best

Max

Problem solved!

Turned out I did not have the "Super User" privileges for my account...

With this it works just fine.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

I tried a manually setted password, but again the "strength" bar is still empty.

Any other ideas?

Yes I am trying to create a new local users as all other users are also just local users.

The symtom is the password strength bar is not filling up. But the underlying issue might be somewhere else.

(Btw. I tried using firefox 90 & chromium from my linux machine, but this should not make any difference)

Screenshot is attached

i use chrome to create accounts it works as expecte.

make sure you meed the reqquirement as below :

I thought by utilizing the "generate password" button a password fulfilling the requirements is chosen automatically.

I tried another manually typed password fulfilling ALL requirements but no success...

The desired user is displayed in the upper area but when I go back to "users" the new user is gone.

see attached screenshot

I am having the same issue in 3.9.0.0.219.  I made sure the password meets all requirements and attempted to add Super User privileges as the original poster did, but to no avail.  In Chrome 102.0.5005.62 and Edge 101.0.1210.53, I have tried creating my own password and using one generated in Prime but the password strength slider stays blank and I get an error message in each browser saying "Password strength cant be empty."  A status bar appears after the error message showing the username I am trying to create but no status ever populates.  In Firefox 91.9.0ESR, I don't get the error message but the slider still stays blank and I am unable to create the account.

For unable to add new user with an admin account issue - please see information in BUG CSCvx77751

Regards!

claudiuprisecaru,

Thank you for your reply.  I have tried using the root account and had the same results in each browser.

As mentioned in the solution the "root" account is not allowed to generate new users. Only the "super user" may do that.

If you are facing the same issue as I did, either try to get access to the super user account or ask someone who has the credentials to help you out.

good luck

This is due to bug, and need to use Root user to create account,

https://bst.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCvx77751

Using root to create the local account did not help.  Save button is still greyed out on all 3 big browsers when trying to change the password after creation.
