AIR-AP1232AG / 1131AG becoming unmanageable/unreachable over the wired lan.

Hi there,

i'm having a problem with several AP's (AIR-AP1232AG and AIR-AP1131AG) loosing their network connectivity on the Wired LAN, after some time.

It does Not matter if they using Inline Power from a 3550-24PWR switchport or external power supply.

IOS .12-3-4.JA as well as 12-3-7.JA show the same problem.

From the switch-side everything looks normal, packets are still being received and sent from the switchport to/from the AP,

but the AP seems to have it's ethernet receiver (or protocol stack) blocked somehow.

Traffic is not being passed to the wireless clients too.

So far haven't been able to pinpoint the reason and a solution, except for power-cycling the AP. Until the next loss of traffic.

Any hints appreciated

Regards Eddy

What do your switchports show for errors? Have you checked the ap's for any crashinfo files or core dumps that could show a little more info. Do you force a duplex and post speed on the ports and ap's?

Hi there,

the switchports show no errors whatsoever.

The AP's have no crashinfo, as they just keep running normally although isolated from the wired lan:

The radio's also keep running and keep broadcasting theire SSID's.

Wireless clients are still able to associate to the AP, although they cannot not authenticate as the responses from the AAA server are not seen by the AP.

Serial Console port access is possible.

Using console access, i have not found anything in the system logs indicating the problem.

Port duplex and speed is set to auto/auto on the AP's as well as Switchports.
