Air-AP1242AG Versus Air-APLAP1242AG

Hi All,

We just got (2) Air-lap1242ag-a-k9 units here and i am also working on (2) air-ap1242ag-a-k9 units also.

my question is this, do the lap units function the same as the air-ap1242ag units?

if not, what will it take to make the lap units function like the ap1242 units?

which one is better and why?

regards,

philip

The LAP version comes with the lightweight image on it and is used with a WLC.

the AP version comes with aIOS image and is the 'traditional' standalone.

Both can be converted either way from LWAPP to aIOS and vice versus.

you can use the following to take the LAP to AP mode

Steve,

i have several questions,

1 - can we buy the support contract from you directly or go thru distributors?

2 - when we get the contract, is there a software package we can download to make life easier.  the gui is ok in a way, but there should be a software package that is more user friendly.

3 - can the lap units connect to the plant ethernet? someone told me they didn't.

changing subjects.

in my other post "air-ap1242ag-a-k9 master / slave"  did you get to look at my last reply or is the topic considered closed?

thanks for your reply,

philip

1. For the support contract you need to go through your distributor/vendor.

2. For configuring the AP? There really isn't too much out there.  I would just get one AP configured then copy it's config (except hostname and IP) to all the other AP.  You can save it to a TFTP server and then upload from there.

3. yes the LAP can connect to the plant ethernet just fine.
