AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9 5GHz issue

Hello,

I have a series of AP model AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9 in lightweight mode connected to a Cisco 8540 controller. The curious thing is that some of them have 5GHz enabled  :

AP001# show interfaces dot11Radio 1
Dot11Radio1 is up, line protocol is up
Hardware is 802.11AC 5GHz Radio, address is 5897.bd5f.3640 (bia 5897.bd5f.3640)

and others only the 2.4Ghz one, the 5GHz one does not appear:

AP002#show interfaces dot11Radio 1
^
% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.).

All APs have the same IOS version (15.3(3)JK8b$) and evidently, they are part of the same AP Group and the same Flexconnect Group in the WLC.

Does anyone know how to activate the 5GHz band via CLI or GUI?

I saw in a similar forum that it could be a 'Configured Country' problem. What is the command to find out this parameter via CLI on the AP 3702 itself?

Thank you very much in advance

The problem is that the radio is not showing up in the inventory that is why the command gives you an error.  Could be that the radio died or the ap is going bad.  Reboot the ap and see if you see any changes.  If you run the show inventory on another ap, you probably will see the 5GHz radio.  This has to be there, there isn't a command to activate it if its not in the inventory.

Use the command "sh ip interface brief" and see if the 5.0 Ghz is present.

I'm about to RMA seven 3700 because I've just discovered the 5.0 Ghz are dead.  Another sign that the 5.0 Ghz is dead is the error message when the AP boots up:

set_radio_pwr_mode: bad radio unit# 1

AP Country code is hard set during manufacturing.  It almost seems that you need to provide more info so that we can help.  Maybe a show inventory from the the ap or additional data that you have.  Is it possible that some ap's have bad radio's?  What does the console output look like when you boot up the ap, do you see any radio errors?

Thanks for your response, Scott. Unfortunately I cannot physically connect to the AP via console, I do it remotely via SSH.

I attach the show inventory:

AP002#show inventory raw
NAME: "AP3700", DESCR: "Cisco Aironet 3700 Series (IEEE 802.11ac) Access Point"
PID: AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9, VID: V04, SN: xxx

NAME: "GigabitEthernet0", DESCR: "PowerPC Ethernet"

PID: , VID: , SN: xxx

NAME: "Dot11Radio0", DESCR: "802.11N 2.4GHz Radio"
PID: , VID: , SN: xxx

AP002#show inventory oid
NAME: "AP3700", DESCR: "Cisco Aironet 3700 Series (IEEE 802.11ac) Access Point"
PID: AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9, VID: V04, SN: xxx
OID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.12.3.1.3.1

I have tried to activate the 2 bands through the WLC CLI but I get this error:

(Cisco Controller) >config 802.11-abgn enable AP002

Cisco Radio in invalid role or wrong slot

In the 'show logging' results I also cannot see any events related to 5GHz.

Could it be, perhaps, a hardware problem with the AP? Could a factory reset solve the problem?

Thank you very much

Thank you very much, Leo, We'll manage the RMAs of the equipment that fails.
