Boot up the AP and follow these directions, since you are having issues upgrading using the mode button... if this fails, then download the IOS image and rename the file again.

i am not able to access the CLI command prompt, i'm getting this message
Mar 1 00:04:36.425: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Not sending discovery request AP does not have an Ip !!
i'm supposed to assign an ip address range of 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.30 to my PC, in order to use the TFTP server to upload the IOS, since the AP has a default Ip address of 10.0.0.1, but i don't know what the subnet mask will be

Ah... my bad... well try to use 3CDeamon TFTP and set your IP Address to 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.255. If you still have an issue, then download the IOS image again and rename it... Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier. Try a different laptop or machine also.

%Error opening M|h¦` è (connection timed out)

Sounds like your TFTP server is not pointing to the location/folder of your IOS.
