I have a question on Point-to-Multipoint Bridging for aironet 1300's.
Here is the setup that I have:
I have three mobile units that I need to connect to eachother.
Each unit has a 1300 series bridge in it, one set as a root, the other 2 as non-root.
The computers that are in each unit are setup in a Workgroup, there are 6 computers in each unit.
Can anyone give me an configuration example or point me to an page for a point-to-multipoint setup for the Bridges? I can find point-to-point but nothing else. Or is that the same setup, just worded differently?
thanks

Hi,
Point to Multi point :
Point to Point : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1300/12.2_15_JA/configuration/guide/o13ovrv.html#wp1034639
Configuration wise, there is no difference. You just have to be sure that both nonroot bridge antennas are properly aligned with root bridge.

Thanks Madhuri,
I have the links to those sheets, I was not sure if they were the same setup or not.

Hi Jon,
Its the same.. we just need to be sure on the allignment and the interface radio role should be ROOT and NON-ROOT bridge if you want wireless clients as well then its NON-ROOT With WIreless clients.

Thanks Surendra,
Just to be clear that I understand you correctly, I have three units, two must be non-root and one a root bridge? For the three units to talk to each other, does there have to be any specific settings or not? Also, I will not have any internet connections or functionallity, they will be unit to unit communications only. Will this create a problem in the root bridge then?
Thanks

Hi,
Q1 >> two must be non-root and one a root bridge? For the three units to talk to each other, does there have to be any specific settings or not?
ANS >> NO. We need to make sure the configuration is exactly same on all the 3 devices, only difference is the station role.. that is..
on the ROOT bridge the radio station role should be "Root bridge"
on the Non-ROOT 1 bridge the radio station role should be "Non-Root bridge"
on the Non-ROOT 2 bridge the radio station role should be "Non-Root bridge"
Q2 >> Also, I will not have any internet connections or functionallity, they will be unit to unit communications only. Will this create a problem in the root bridge then?
ANS - NO, there will not be any issue in the Root bridge.. the traffic will flow between the bridges without any problem.
lemme know if this answered your question..

Surendra
