Hello,
I have some generic questions about the smallest Aironet AP (702 and 1600).
1) Is it possible to make a cluster with these AP ? If yes, how many can be associated ?
2) Does a controller is needed for this cluster ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

You can run them in autonomous mode fine - but converting a 702 to autonomous mode is painful.
Consider getting something like a Cisco 1830 Access Point which has a mini-controller built in.

I don't know. I would think at least half a dozen to a dozen.
Did you know their is a mobility express promotion on at the moment? Basically if you buy two Cisco 1700, 2700 or 3700 access points you pretty much get a 2504 controller with 25 AP licences for free.
The 2504 is far more advanced than the controller built into the 1830 ...

Hi Philip,
Thanks for the answer.
How many 1830 can be clustered without dedicated controller ?

Half a dozen is more than enough for SB.
Thanks for the info about the promotion !
