Hi Mohamed,
You are most welcome!
You will not need to order any additional Radio module as this AP comes with dual a/g radios buildt-in.
Dual 802.11a and 802.11g radios deliver a combined capacity of 108 Mbps, meeting the performance requirements of the most demanding applications, while hardware-assisted AES encryption provides uncompromised support for interoperable IEEE 802.11i and WPA2 security. A key component of a unified wired and wireless network, the Cisco Aironet 1240AG Series supports Cisco IOS Software and can operate as an autonomous access point or a lightweight access point.
So you should be good to go.
Hope this helps!

You need to order the antennas separately. Because of the many roles and installation options supported, the antennas need to be ordered for you specific implementation.
The "usual" 2.2db "rubber ducks" used for general AP implementations are ~US$28.00 each at full retail price.
Good Luck

Hi Scott,
Thanks for your reply
I am going to use the 1240G in-door access point to support 802.11 a/b/g
Which Anttena should I order ? What is the part number ?

Hi Mohamed,
As Scott indicated in his post, there are many different Antennas that can be used with the 1200 Series AP. Have a look at this good reference guide that includes Part numbers etc. Hopefully this will help you decide on what antenna is best suited for your environment;

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your reply
AS I understand, Each Access Point (indoor) AIR-AP1242AG-E-K9 (802.11a/g Non-modular IOS AP; RP-TNC; ETSI Cnfg) will need (2) AIR-ANT4941 2.4 GHz,2.2 dBi Dipole Antenna w/ RP-TNC Connect AND (2) AIR-ANT5135D-R 5GHz 3.5dBi Dipole Antenna w/RP-TNC connector
Is this correct ? each unit will need (2) AIR-ANT4941 & (2) AIR-ANT5135D-R to work 802.11a/g ?

Mohamed

Mohamed,
Be advised that the 1240 requires external 802.11a antannas (as opposed to the integrated RM-21A antenna in the 1232). As a result not all channels run at full power, since they have to take into account higher gain antennas (>9dBi) that may be externally connected. More than half of the current 12 channels can only run at half or quarter the full transmit power allowed in the 5Ghz bands.

Hi Mohamed,
Yes the antennas you referenced will work with the 1240 series a/g.These 2 that you have chosen are probably a good economical place to start. Go with 2 of each as stated in your previous post for the maximum coverage from this style.Have a look;
Dual RP-TNC Antenna Connectors for Both 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz Radios Antenna connectors support a variety of Cisco 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz antennas, providing range and coverage versatility.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for your help
What about the AP 1230G ?
Do I need also to order the Antenna separetly ?
What is the difference between 1231G and 1232G ?
"AIR-AP1231G-E-K9" 802.11g IOS AP w/Avail CBus Slot, ETSI Cnfg AND "AIR-AP1232AG-E-K9" 802.11a/g dual radio IOS AP, ETSI cfg ?

Mohamed

Hi Mohamed,
The difference in the 2 AP's that you have listed is that the 1231G-EK9 will only come with a G radio with the ability to add an A radio at a later time and would require external antennas(2). The 1232AG-E-K9 would come with A&G radios and would also require external antennas (4). Have a look at these docs;
The mini-PCI interface supports either an 802.11b or 802.11g radio operating in the 2.4 GHz frequency band.The CardBus interface supports an 802.11a radio operating in the 5 GHz frequency band. At least one radio must be installed for the AP to operate in a Wireless LAN, and at most two radios (one of each form factor) can be installed.
2.4 GHz antennas are not included with the 802.11g radio module; they must be identified under a separate order line item and purchased separately. There are two versions of the 802.11a radio modules. The 802.11a RM21A radio module(**not what you have listed**) is designed with integrated antennas; therefore, no antenna selection is required. The 802.11a RM22A radio module, however, has dual RP-TNC antenna connectors. Auxiliary 5 GHz antennas are not included and should be ordered separately.

ANTENNAS
The 802.11g modules of the Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series support a flexible set of Cisco Aironet omnidirectional and directional antennas that can be mounted on walls, ceilings, or masts. The 802.11g radios do not come with antennas-they must be ordered separately. Similarly, the 802.11a radios do not come with antennas. Auxiliary 5 GHz antennas are required and should be ordered separately. Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series access points are certified for operation only with Cisco Aironet antennas. To ensure regulatory compliance, select Cisco Aironet antennas for use with Cisco 1200 Series access points.
