Good Afternoon,
we are currently deploying some AP 3602e with the external antennas. They have a 2dbi rating. We are also deploying these AP's with Terrawave antenna's as well. The Terrawave antennas are 6dbi.
Sorry for the noob question, but do i have to manually configure the antenna gain on each radio? If so what is a good example of what to set the gain to for each antenna type.
Currently the default setting is 0x0.5 dbi

Double the antenna gain. If you have 2dbi antenna, then use a value of 4. For the 6dbi antenna use 12.
12x0.5=6

Haha. I guess I should have worded it differently. I am sorry for making you give me me an arithmatic lesson, i do understand the math
Anyway. Is this something that hsould be set when connecting the standard cisco 2dbi external antenna and with the terrawave 6dbi antenna? Does this allow the antenna to work at its maximum rating, if so what is the default values on the controllers when set to default?

Hello,
You need to specify the antenna gain in order to make the AP abide by the regulations.
Based on the country you chose the WLC, the WLC makes sure that the EIRP will not exceed the value permitted by the country.
The value you enter does not affec the real gain. The gain is the same regardless of the value you enter.
You only add that value to allow the WLC to calculate accurate EIRP value. But that will not affect the real gain you get.
If your EIRP exceeds the limit by your country, then the WLC will decrease the AP transmit power to make the EIRP under the allowed limit. (EIRP = transmit power + antenna gain - cable loss).
