Hi All,
We have a faulty AP cisco 2800 and our users on office are having an issue on WIFI so I decided to replace it with same model that has been working and being used by our sister company. Our WLC is cisco AIR CT-3504-K9.
When I tried to replace the faulty AP with a working one I notice on our cisco switch log history that the interface starts to going up and down. I notice that after resetting the AP to factory default by pressing mode button, the interface of our cisco switch 9300 goes up and down where all the other working AP's are connected to.
I decided to move it to different port and use a test laptop to monitor the port if it will go up and down. It didn't go up and down for 2 hours, but as soon as I have the local IT to connect the AP replacement it goes up and down, the CISCO WLC still can't detect the AP. I did reboot the WLC and still the same. I did ask for the help of TAC and seems to be we have problems on our contract.
Can someone help me on this issue?

This is contradicting -
You said that you have reset the AP multiple time using mode button. At the same time you said that you tried to login via console and it did not work - if the reset has been done properly then AP goes back to factory reset settings and eventually it will accept the default Cisco/Cisco cred. I feel the reset might not have been done properly. Hi Marce,
We found out the problem now. So as per the ENGR of our parent company that handles those spare 2800 cisco AP's. he said that those AP's are not compatible on our malaysia site as it will work only for Korea. I don't have any idea that those AP's that the IT manager sent to us works only for Korea

restart the AP, console into the AP, share complete console logs

Hi what is the command to restart it? and also what is the command to check the logs?

Just disconnect the AP from switchport or do a shut no-shut on AP switchport..share 10mins console output..

They sent us a 1st batch of AP's and I was able to add those AP on WLC and now the second batch that uses a same model wasn't been able to add on WLC. Also, I did a reset on mode button multiple times and it's not working. Does resetting the config on CLI will fix the issue?

- @Weezy-F Post the complete boot process of an AP that cannot join

So I just received this second batch of used AP 2800 on our parent company. The 1st batch I was able to add it on our WLC.
This one (2nd batch) I wasn't been able to add it.
This is the logs when I tried to console on the putty
This is the status of the lights . Blue,Red,Green which means insufficient power. I allocated a POE MAX 30000 on the port of the switch and still not working. It goes to blinking green only. I shut unshut the port and have the local IT to unplug and plug back and then press the mode button and the lights are change to red ,green, blue which means access point location command invoked from controller web interface

- @Weezy-F It looks like it is waiting to get an address from a (the) DHCP server.

Yes and what weird is when I check the interface port it goes up and down and lights are red, greenblue, access point location command invoked.

- @Weezy-F That's not applicable, access point location blinking; because it can only be done if the AP has joined the controller; it means insufficient power, and also focus on the 'waiting for uplink IP address' messages

now it came back to Blue-Red-Green which means insufficient power even though I already test a static power inline with MAX 30000. Is this a hardware issue? because the 1st batch that has been sent are working.

if you can post a 10mins console output, that will clear all the doubt - most likely. Note - Even if the AP is having insufficient power, it should boot up and complete the join process. The radios will stay down till it gets adequate power around 22 watts, but the it should not hamper the joining process. So if possible, take the console output data in a notepad and share that file.

This is just the output. I can't login via CLI and it doesn't accept my credentials as we just received this used AP on our parent company.

You can factory reset the AP too using mode button and then the default cred Cisco/Cisco should work.
Anyway, based on the snippet it says that the AP is trying to get an IP address . Now -
1. Do you know the vlan where these AP resides, having a DHCP?
2. If you connect a laptop directly to the same AP switchport, does the laptop get an IP address?
3. If you have any doubt on the VLAN, could you put the AP in a different, working vlan where you know DHCP works and people get an IP address?
4. you can manually assign a static ip to the AP by running command 'capwap ap ip <ip address> <mask> <gw>'. But you would need the CLI access to run this.
