AP 5 GHz radio dies, works after reset

I have a WLC 2504 running with a number of AP2702i and after investigating the complaints of users I noticed that two APs stopped taking 5 GHz clients. It looks like the radio just turned off despite the WLC listing them as both 2.4 and 5 GHz enabled.

Has anyone seen anything like this and knows how to mitigate it? After I reset the AP it would appear to work fine. Anything in particular I should look for in the log or settings?

What software version are you running on your 2504?

I find it a bit suspicious that only two AP's are affected, like a hardware issue.  Anything appear of interest in the 2504 log?

I have 7.6.130.0 running on the WLC. Nothing super interesting in the log, I tried looking for keywords such as radio and similar but found nothing I could identify  as the problem. I also don't know the exact time that the 5 GHz stopped working so I have quite a long log where the event could be. The log i have is from a syslog and the WLC is logging with debug level.

I haven't done an analysis although I think the max EAPOL key retransmission exceeded events increased but it probably has to do with more users ending up on 2.4 GHz so it's a consequence of this issue rather than a cause of the problem in the first place.

I should be able to but it will take me a while as the system is in production. I will drop a line if I find out something useful with the gold star release.

Thanks! Didn't know about this command. Will have to check it with the console cable as my ssh login doesn't allow me to go into privileged exec for some reason.

Hi, I checked on the radio reset codes and got a failed reset for error code 51. Not sure if this carries any significance as the error code has occurred before and apparently with successful resets.

How come the equipment doesn't try to reset again after a failed attempt? Is that something that can be implemented.

Either way I got a new software release so I will be upgrading to that when I'm allowed to schedule a service window but since this happened again (this time with a different AP) I figured I would update this here in case it may shed some more light on this issue or help someone in the future.
