AP General Power Question

Does an AP draw more power when wireless clients are connected to its radios or it doesn't affect the power draw? Like will the AP consume more power when clients are connected to it?

I believe AP draw as per the standard Power, it is not on the user base

AP’s will negotiate power on boot up and will not change after that.

But I noticed when my clients are connected and they download a big file, the power draw increases.

Well if you can repro that and it’s consistent, then you have answered your question. I have not noticed that.

Are there any commands on the wlc or the AP themselves to check power draw? I know if they were being powered using poe, then you can do a show power inline command to check power but if they are being powered by dc, any commands to help get like the VA, Watt, Amp readings and stuff?

Try the show ap config general . This will show if ts a power injector, medium power, etc.

i do not believe download increase power level, i am more interested and learn here in that case.
