ap not connecting in mesh mode

Hi,

We have a few 1500 outdoor mesh ap's.  1262N are used to link to these 1500 and extend the coverage to places.

All 1262 was configured as mesh. But upon installation, none of them actually register to the controller and join the other mesh ap's.

They should be joining to the 1500's.

on testing, the 1500 joins the 1262N as mesh. however the 1262N does not join the 1500 as mesh even though the distance is less than 20m.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi,

Have you added the mac filter for the 1262 APs? you see the AP appearing on the controller?
Any logs or snmp traps about those APs?

yes the filters are all added in. The 1262's do register to the controller when it is connected to the network.

But over the wireless media, 1262 as mesh ap doesnt connect to the 1500 series ( either in root or mesh mode ) and register to the controller.

From the logs, all that is seen is it identifies the 1500 as the parent and before adding it to the mesh neighbors, restarts the whole process again. This has been tried with mulitple 1262N.

The wlc code is 7.0.230.

Okay so the 1262's at least register with the WLC. So with the Ethernet MAC address in the Mac filters, did you also set the bridge group name? Part of the mesh also is that you have to set the TX and the channel before setting the 1262's as Mesh AP's. Make sure that the MAP's are on the same channel as the RAP.

If you have the 1520's, make sure the 1262's are also setup as 20mhz not 40mhz. Unless you have 1552's and you are running 40mhz on these.

Yes, the bridge group name is correctly set. that is how the 1552 was able to  connect as Mesh ap to the 1262( when configured as Root ap ).

Tx & Channel were left as automatic initially , however i did play with them later to test.

But it didn't help.

Is their good signal on the 5ghz from the 1552 to where the 1260 is in order for the 1260 to connect? Take a look at the logs from the WLC and look at the logs from the console of the 1260.
