AP not registering with WLC 5508

My WLC controller having model AIR-CT5508-K9 and having version 8.5.151.0 , My AP is not registering to WLC and its in downloading state only , MY AP model is AIR-LAP1242AG-N-K9 , Could you please help me to identify root cause

1242 is not compatible with 8.5.151. The last supported version for 1242 was 8.0.152.

The AP AIR-LAP1242AG-N-K9 is an older model and unfortunately not supported on WLC code 8.5.x.

• Last supported release for 1240 series APs was 8.0.x (they were end-of-support long before 8.5).

• On 8.5.151.0 the AP will stay in “Downloading” or fail to register because the required image is not available.

Solution: You’d need to run a controller version that still supports 1240 APs (up to 8.0.152.0), or replace the AP with a newer model supported in 8.5.
