AP1562E-E-K9

Heinz

Good Day,

I did a factory re-set on above AP (more than 60 seconds) the AP is on the same subnet as a WLC however the AP does not join this WLC due to model / firmware mismatch.

I am connect via Consol and getting a stream of debug - I cannot break this and so I cannot access the CLI.

Any possible way to get to the CLI?

Any advise will be apricated

Regards

 - Perhaps if you disconnect it from the network ,  it will stop trying to connect to the WLC

              >...does not join this WLC due to model / firmware mismatch.
For compatible solutions check : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

- What model of WLC?
- What version of software running on the WLC?
- What version of software installed on the AP?
- What are the exact messages on the console?
- Have you added the AP MAC address on the WLC to allow it to join?

Thank you, I have managed to get into the CLI.

I have a identical AP AP1562E-E-K9 connected to the WLC and this joined working AP Primary Software is 8.3.150.0

However I do not see this version on Cisco Software?

Trying to join the AP as is it gets rejected.

Maybe a suggestion to Firmware I can upload to the AP the the WLC will accept? WLC Ver: 8.0.140.0

I know this is old but to upgrade it now will make a bunch of AP's in-compatible - and they are spread across my country

            - What is the WLC model ?

Yes I asked that and @Heinz has not bothered to provide answers.  @Heinz can you answer all these questions?
- What model of WLC?
- What version of software running on the WLC? You've said: 8.0.140.0 which is a very old version (25-Aug-2016)- even of 8.0!  The last public release of 8.0 was 8.0.152.0 (21-Oct-2017) although there have been some later escalation image versions provided by TAC since then.
- What version of software installed on the AP?
- What are the exact messages on the console?
- Have you added the AP MAC address on the WLC to allow it to join?

AIR-CT5520-K9

8.3.150.0

The current Firmware of the AP I am trying to join to this WLC is: 8.4.2.75

- Have you added the AP MAC address on the WLC to allow it to join?

You might also want to change the AP to local mode if it's currently in mesh mode.

I have not added the MAC yet, I will down grade the Firmware test and revert

> I have a identical AP AP1562E-E-K9 connected to the WLC and this joined working AP Primary Software is 8.3.150.0
However I do not see this version on Cisco Software?

You check the AP software version on the Compatibility Matrix (link below) WLC 8.3.150.0 = AP 15.3(3)JD17 and the software is there:
https://software.cisco.com/download/home/286290416/type/286288051/release/15.3.3-JD17

Are you absolutely sure you have a 1562 working on the WLC running 8.0.140.0?
According to the compatibility matrix 8.0.140.0 does NOT support 1562 and the first supported version is 8.3.111.0
You can also confirm that in the release notes:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn80mr4.html#pgfId-1142589
So you cannot use that AP on that WLC.  And I'd expect to see a log on the WLC saying that it was not a supported/recognised AP.

AIR-CT5520-K9 also I am correcting the WLC's Firmware version:  to 8.3.150.0

                   >...AIR-CT5520-K9 also I am correcting the WLC's Firmware version:  to 8.3.150.0
  - Which should still work for older APs, check if you can get the AP1562E-E-K9 connected when using this firmware ,

Yes but I do not find this version: 8.3.150.0 on Cisco Software Website?

8.3.150.0 for 5520 is at
